Are you looking for a career in Registered Nursing?

The ADN program is designed to provide nursing courses that when successfully completed awards graduates an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). Graduates are then eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Upon successful completion of the NCLEX-RN and licensure by the Georgia Board of Nursing, graduates are employable as registered nurses.

NOTE: According to the position statement of the National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (NOADN) (2006), ADN graduates are recognized as essential members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in diverse health care settings. The ADN faculty is committed to the NOADN tenants of advocacy, professional involvement, life-long learning and leadership and to this end the College supports student participation and involvement in the learning environment.

Graduates may find these opportunities in a wide variety of settings, including, but not limited to acute care in hospitals and long term care facilities, outpatient clinics, physicians’ offices, home health care agencies, private or governmental industries, schools and hospice programs.

NCLEX Pass Rate for the time period of May 1, 2015 Exam for competitive selection. This exam will be administered by the WGTC Continuing Education Department. Please call 678-664-0510 for exam registration information or visit the Continuing Education webpage for the complete schedule.

Note: Changes in ADN Admission and Competitive Selection

  1. Murphy Campus will admit once a year in the Fall Semester – Competitive Selection deadline is June 1st each year for a Fall Semester start.
  2. Lagrange Campus will admit once a year in the Spring Semester – Competitive Selection deadline is September 1st each year for a Spring Semester start.
  3. Coweta Campus will admit once a year in the Summer Semester. Competitive selection deadline for Coweta Campus is February 1st for a Summer Semester start.
  4. Students will be required to submit a copy of current state CNA certification. PLEASE NOTE ALL CAMPUSES will be required to have the CNA beginning SUMMER 2013.
  5. One (1) point for six months clinical work experience. Clinical experience is defined as
    actual patient care that includes the delivery of physical care, such as certified nursing
    assistant, nurse aide, practical nurse, patient care technician, medical assistant, surgical
    technician, back office worker in a clinic or physician s office, or emergency medical
    technician. One (1) point for completion of the Nurse Aide certificate program, including ALHS
    1040, ALHS 1060, ALHS 1090 and NAST 1100. Two (2) points for current Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN).
  6. Applicants who complete the entire Nurse Aide Certificate Program, including ALHS 1040 Introduction to Health Care, ALHS 1060 Nutrition, ALHS 1090 Medical Terminology, and NAST 1100 Nurse Aide will receive 1 points toward the competitive selection calculation.
  7. Applicants with a current LPN license in the state of Georgia are exempt from this CNA requirement and are also eligible for 2 points toward competitive selection if currently employed for at least 6 months prior to competitive selection.
  8. Other certified or licensed healthcare professionals will be required to complete the CNA certification. For additional information regarding CNA certification in the state of Georgia, visit the Georgia Nurse Aide portal site .

NOTE: Competitive selection for the RN Program requires College Algebra, Math 1111; Math Modeling, Math 1101 CANNOT be substituted for College Algebra.
